See what they have to say about All Saints Pre-school

When my son started at All Saints’ pre-school, we had just moved home from abroad and he had never been to any pre-school before, so it was a big change for him.  The staff were brilliant at helping him to settle in and guiding his behaviour to help him fit in and make new friends. There is a big emphasis on spending time outdoors and their beautiful location right on the edge of the woods, with a huge outdoor playground,  I think really sets them apart from other local pre-schools.  They do so many amazing activities like building bonfires, toasting marshmallows, worm racing, building dams, woodcraft and I have been constantly surprised at the new and interesting ways the staff find to help the children learn while playing…  I felt totally at ease leaving my child in their care…they manage to create a warm, family atmosphere and the staff are mature and experienced – there is literally nothing they haven’t seen before! Over the years he was there I watched my child grow in confidence and we were both sad when it was time to leave! Such a great pre-school.

My son enjoyed attending All Saints pre-school and I felt the staff helped prepare him for the transition to school. Children were polite to adults and knew what was expected.

He was encouraged to be independent and make choices from day one. The environment is much more grown up than a nursery. Adults do not talk down to the children but rather listen and respect what they say.

The activities available were always varied and fun. Making bread, icing biscuits, painting, pretend shops, woodwork, counting games, dressing up, sand and water play etc. I liked the outdoor time for the children (whatever the weather) with the variety of toys and games. He loved forest school, especially toasting marshmallows and making a stick man. Popcorn the rabbit was also a favourite as we don’t have any pets at home.

He always needed a change if clothes as he would come home covered in mud. This was a sign he’d enjoyed himself in the woods!

The staff were professional, firm but fair. I think behavioural standards were high and the children knew clear boundaries. Children with additional health and learning needs were welcomed.

Preschool arranged so many additional activities for the children such as the carnival procession, day trips to a supermarket, nativity play at All Saints’ church, optional weekend and summer sessions for forest school. The dedication of the staff and parents was self evident. Sports day was a highlight for us with a chance for all children to win a medal and certificate on ‘graduating.’

My son made some good friends at pre-school and gained the confidence to start school with the excellent joint working with reception teachers.

I couldn’t recommend the care and quality of the facility highly enough. I have experience of two nurseries in Ilkley and three nannies. All saints’ pre-school easily was the best for my child.

Our little boy began attending All Saints’ pre-school at the age of 3. One of the main reasons we chose the pre-school was because of the beautiful setting – surrounded by the woods, fields and a view of the famous Cow and Calf moors! The outside play area is perfect for our active little boy – including a mud kitchen, water play and lots of ride on toys. We liked that he is able to (and encouraged) to go outside when he likes and in all weathers (wellies are a must here!). The staff are very friendly and knowledgable and have the same ethos that we have as parents – with a focus on building social skills, confidence, resilience and enjoying learning. There are new activities planned each day and our little boy often comes home proud of the things he has made. We were particularly impressed by the rising 5’s programme that runs twice a week and often includes forest school sessions. We feel this will bond our little boy to his peer group and ease his transition to ‘big school’ plus give him lots of happy childhood memories of all the adventures he’s had.

My daughter loves every minute of pre school and has settled in really well. The teachers are fantastic, they really engage with the children and plan the day’s activities around their interests. Every session is different and my daughter comes home with fantastic things she has made or created that day. The facilities are great and Emily particularly loves ‘popcorn’ the resident rabbit. I would recommend All Saints pre school to any parent looking for outstanding childcare for their 2 to 5 year olds.

When looking for a pre-school I was surprised at how many there are to choose from in Ilkley. However, I really wanted my kids to be kids – to play in mud, play outside on grass and in woods, to be able to go on shop visits with their friends, and also to have a fabulous setting to help them appreciate the outdoors and the nature around them. That’s exactly why we went for All Saints pre School – no other pre-school could offer such a warm caring environment combined with the great outdoors. Open campfires in the woods, hot chocolates and toasted marshmallows are now great memories for my kids to cherish now they are at ‘big school’ and they still go back every summer to enjoy the summer camp. Can not recommend it highly enough.

When we visited All Saints’ Pre-School we were overwhelmed by a feeling that this was the place we wanted to send our daughter and we never had a moments regret. Although the transition from being at home full-time to being in a setting away from us was difficult for Lottie, the staff supported us all beautifully. Despite the teething problems around her separation anxiety, she loved being in the environment from day one with all the stimulating things it has to offer and she spent two incredibly happy years there. Lottie loved so much about her time at Pre-School but the opportunity to learn and grow during trips to the woods, an amazing resource right on the doorstep, stands out particularly. She really came out of herself during the Forest Schools sessions and left to start in reception fully prepared thanks to all of the transition sessions held in partnership with local primary schools. She still has many fond memories of pre-school – still talking about it often – and we are looking forward to her baby brother starting there as soon as he is old enough!
