Rising 5s October Newsletter

October 2, 2017
  • Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to your additional newsletter to let you know all the additional activities and information for your rising five child/ren.

    School admissions
School admissions are administered by Bradford Council. A number of schools will be holding open events or have already held them. If you missed them please contact the school directly to arrange a visit. Bradford’s process for admissions are on line. The online admissions system will be available for reception applications from 14 November 2017 until 15 January 2018 for children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014.

You should receive information about making an application for reception from your child’s current nursery/through the post in mid-November. Please contact the Admissions Team if you do not receive this.

You will be able to view as well as amend your online application any time until the closing date of the admissions round. Receipt of online application will be acknowledged via an automated email. Only one application may be submitted for a child. Multiple applications will not be accepted. Only complete a Bradford online application if you are a Bradford resident. Other authorities please see their admissions process. For further information https://www.bradford.gov.uk/education-and-skills/school-admissions/apply-for-a-place-at-one-of-bradford-districts-schools/

School places are announced either before or after Easter depending when Easter falls and you will receive notification via email. All applications are made on line.

    Forest School sessions
Forest Schools sessions will carry on until the end of term culminating in our Christmas special. Please ensure your child has suitable clothing every Wednesday between now and the end of term. Gloves attached to coats are not always useful as they tend to daggle and get caught up. Please try and provide detached gloves, hat and scarves now the cold weather is here. Our Forest School sessions restart again in February.

We will start practising our Nativity for our performance at All Saints Church. If you require a song sheet to practice with your child we will send you a copy via email. Our rising five children tend to take the major roles and some of these are speaking parts (potentially!) If your child is unable to take part in the Nativity on Thursday 14th December please can you inform us so they are not given a major role.

    Carpet time
On Monday afternoons we will start practicing our listening skills on the carpet in order to prepare children for school. They will be undertaking a number of activities which will help them with listening skills, Please see attached a parent guide about your child starting school.

    Other events
Parents evening will take place in March (TBC) in order for staff to share your child’s progress here at Pre-School. If you have any concerns surrounding your child please speak to their key worker.
Our spring and summer term will see the continuation of our Forest School sessions, PE sessions in the summer and specialist trips these include Cliffe Castle, Harlow Carr gardens, White Wells and Menston Park.

Wishing you all a good half term,

    Vicky Wood
