October Newsletter

October 1, 2017
  • Dear Parents and Carers,

We certainly have been busy here at Pre-School this half term with the children having lots of fun and going on many adventures. A big welcome to our new children: Beatrice, Oliver, Henry, and Alex, we will be shortly welcoming Hannah, Eva and Oscar.
Thank you to all the parents that took the time out to speak to the Ofsted inspector. Your feedback on the provision was very much appreciated. You can now read our inspection report on line https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/CARE/EY463100 .
A copy will also be available for parents to read on the notice board.

Pre-School is becoming a very busy place, currently our Tuesday morning session is full and we are operating a waiting list. Tuesday afternoon is also getting very full. If you are thinking about increasing your child’s sessions in the New Year, and beyond please don’t wait too long as I envisage a full Pre-School by Easter. We are also starting to take admissions for 2018/2019.
    A few reminders for parents:
The mornings can be very busy, if you need to speak to Mrs Wood or another staff member and it’s not urgent you can email/ text message or leave an answer phone message. We will try and get back to you ASAP. Remember you can also use Tapestry to send a message to your child’s key worker.
Can we also ask that children are picked up promptly at the end of your child’s session. We understand that sometimes you can be delayed, however some children are being picked up to 5 – 10 minutes after session times, this then impacts on staff and their time to close down Pre-School or get ready for the next session. Many thanks.

    New staff structure
I am sure that most of you are aware that Mrs. Pickles will be retiring from her main duties here at Pre-School to concentrate on her new position in 3 weeks’ time as a grandparent. Mrs. Pickles will still be supporting Pre-School in a more administrative role rather than working directly with the children as this will free up more time for her to spend with her new grandchild.
Our new staff structure going forward will be:

Mrs. Vicky Wood – Head and Manager of Pre-School
Mr. Mark Crooks – Acting Assistant Manager
Miss. Karen Smith – Deputy Play Leader
    Mrs. Michelle Sheehan- Pre-School Practitioner
Mrs. Gillian Murgatroyd – Pre-School Practitioner
Mrs Alison Dent – Temporary Pre-School Assistant

    Up and coming at Pre-School
Our rising five sessions will continue on Monday and Wednesday afternoon, with forest school on Wednesday afternoon. Rising five parents will receive an additional newsletter shortly.

We will be focusing on hibernation this term and then of course Christmas. The children will start nativity rehearsals in the middle of November with our production taking place at All Saints Church on Thursday 14th December Children to arrive at 9:45 with a 10:00 start .

This is one of the highlights of the year for children and parents alike so please invite relatives, friends etc. to the production. Don’t forget your hankies! The nativity is also an opportunity for the Pre-School to raise funds in the form of a raffle. Caroline the chair of the committee will be contacting you all in the near future about this fund raising event.
The children will also be able to join in with our Christmas lunch and small party afterwards. Details of this will follow shortly.

    Outside events
Due to staff training unfortunately our annual lantern parade has had to be postponed this year. We will be running the event in January instead. However, we will be running a willow weaving event where you will be able to make your own Christmas wreath alongside a Christmas craft activity for children. Details of all these and other events to follow shortly.
In the meantime all the staff wish you an enjoyable half term.
